Music Program
Children experience music in their classroom as well as in the music room.
The music program was implemented using a music curriculum developed by Anna Maria Maccheroni who worked closely with Dr. Maria Montessori determining how to best lead the children to this great new world. For bell instruction, the classroom teachers gives lessons to them individually or in small groups. They learn to handle properly, the beautiful bells developed for this curriculum. The bells lend themselves to much sensorial as well as theoretical work. The children eventually learn to read musical notation as they are also learning to read the written word.
In the music room, the children receive exposure to many types of instruments, composers, music and sound. Elementary students learn to play different types of instruments. More importantly, the music room allows them to move freely and creatively to all of the above.
