Parent Education

Children’s House offers many opportunities for parents to learn more about Montessori philosophy and education.

Parent Education Nights are presented by our AMI teachers on various topics like language or math demonstrating the use of the Montessori materials and explaining the progression from primary to elementary.

Occasionally we will engage a Montessori consultant to share their area of expertise with our families.

Cosmic Coffees are morning parent seminars (with coffee) where our AMI teachers lead  discussion groups about general topics of interest like Discipline, Independence, Montessori in the Home, etc. from the perspective of Montessori philosophy.  Parents ask questions and discussions ensue.

The Journey Into Discovery is the ultimate parent education opportunity providing in depth information about Montessori education. The class is held on a Saturday from 8:00 AM and continues through lunch until 1:00 PM. Parents visit each classroom receiving a presentation from each teacher relating Montessori curriculum to the developmental stages of the child.  As we move from the infant/toddler through the primary to the elementary program parents gain a better understanding of the complete Montessori experience.   The class is held once each year in February.  Parents of enrolled students are required to attend one Journey class.  Parents on the waiting list are invited to attend and receive priority on the waiting list if they participate.  The next Journey Into Discovery class is scheduled for Saturday, February 5, 2011.  You may download a registration form and submit it to our office.

A Parent Library of many books, periodicals and DVDs are available for loan and can be found in the school office.

The Montessori parent magazine Today’s Child is published five times each year and is free to our families.
